A couple of stories on the subject have surfaced recently; the first claims that Blu-ray disc manufacturers don't want the porn industry releasing content on Blu-ray, while a second story says that adult filmmakers have decided to cast their lot with HD DVD.
Adult film producer There Joone told Heise Online that his company, Digital Playground, would be going with HD DVD for future HD releases. Joone reportedly said that none of the Blu-ray manufacturing facilities would press discs for his company, saying that Sony had threatened to pull their licenses if they produced adult content.
Ars contacted the Blu-ray Disc Association for comment on Joone's allegations. "There is not a prohibition against adult content," said Marty Gordon, vicechair of the BDA US Promotions Committee and vice president of the Philips Electronics Hollywood Office. "The BDA welcomes the participation of all companies interested in using and supporting the format, particularly those from the content industry. We look forward to working with any content providers interested in providing their audience with [the] best possible high definition home entertainment experience."

At Rande Gerber's The Whiskey, New York nightlife meets Hollywood chic. The club includes the 8-acre Whiskey Beach – a virtual playground with a sand beach, vineyards and an amphitheater for outdoor concerts and events. Private "dens" offer beds for lounging, mister systems, TVs and phones.
Inside the casino, the Drop Bar, also managed by the owners of The Whiskey, is a modernistic, circular bar located at the center of the casino action and hosted by the go-go attired Drop Bar Girls. For an authentic Irish experience, head to Fado Irish Pub and throw back a few pints of brew while enjoying traditional Irish music five nights a week.

The latest project from Brad Armstrong had a lot to live up to. Consistently pressing against the limits of adult entertainment with titles such as “Country Style,” “Euphoria,” “Fluff and Fold” and “Brilliant Blondes: 4 Pack,” former performer Brad Armstrong is one of pornography’s hottest directors. Challenging the recent trend toward reality and gonzo porn established by companies such as “Shane’s World” and “Bang Bros.,” Armstrong once again, with his newest film, “Manhunters,” shows his audience what a well-told story, sizzling cinematography and barely passable audio quality can do for the largest erogenous zone in the body — the mind

In the end, porn doesn’t whet men’s appetites—it turns them off the real thing.
By Naomi Wolf
At a benefit the other night, I saw Andrea Dworkin, the anti-porn activist most famous in the eighties for her conviction that opening the floodgates of pornography would lead men to see real women in sexually debased ways. If we did not limit pornography, she argued—before Internet technology made that prospect a technical impossibility—most men would come to objectify women as they objectified porn stars, and treat them accordingly. In a kind of domino theory, she predicted, rape and other kinds of sexual mayhem would surely follow.
The feminist warrior looked gentle and almost frail. The world she had, Cassandra-like, warned us about so passionately was truly here: Porn is, as David Amsden says, the “wallpaper” of our lives now. So was she right or wrong?
Not Tonight, Honey. I'm Logging On.: Internet porn is everywhere; even "nice" guys are hooked. So where does that leave their girlfriends? By David Amsden (October 20, 2003)
The New Position on Casual Sex: The rise of Internet dating has brought a sexual openness (not to mention one-night stands) to the younger generation not seen since the seventies heyday of Maxwell's Plum. But can there be too much of a good thing? By Vanessa Grigoriadis (January 13, 2003)
She was right about the warning, wrong about the outcome. As she foretold, pornography did breach the dike that separated a marginal, adult, private pursuit from the mainstream public arena. The whole world, post-Internet, did become pornographized. Young men and women are indeed being taught what sex is, how it looks, what its etiquette and expectations are, by pornographic training—and this is having a huge effect on how they interact.
But the effect is not making men into raving beasts. On the contrary: The onslaught of porn is responsible for deadening male libido in relation to real women, and leading men to see fewer and fewer women as “porn-worthy.” Far from having to fend off porn-crazed young men, young women are worrying that as mere flesh and blood, they can scarcely get, let alone hold, their attention.
Here is what young women tell me on college campuses when the subject comes up: They can’t compete, and they know it. For how can a real woman—with pores and her own breasts and even sexual needs of her own (let alone with speech that goes beyond “More, more, you big stud!”)—possibly compete with a cybervision of perfection, downloadable and extinguishable at will, who comes, so to speak, utterly submissive and tailored to the consumer’s least specification?
